You can't pour from an empty cup
I used to wake up and immediately check my phone. Emails, notifications, social media — my brain was reactive before my feet hit the floor. It was destroying my creativity and my health.
The 5-Minute Reset
Here's what I do now, every morning, before touching any device:
Minute 1-2: Breathe. Four counts in, hold for four, out for four. Just breathing. Your nervous system needs this reset after sleep.
Minute 3: Gratitude. Three things I'm grateful for. Not generic stuff — specific. "I'm grateful that customer left a 5-star review yesterday." Specificity rewires your brain for opportunity.
Minute 4: Intention. One sentence about what today is for. "Today I finish the proposal." "Today I connect with two new people." One clear intention beats a 50-item to-do list.
Minute 5: Move. Stretch. Ten jumping jacks. Walk to the window. Anything that tells your body: we're awake, we're alive, let's go.
Why This Works
It's not about productivity hacks. It's about starting your day from a place of intention instead of reaction. When you own your morning, you own your day. When you own your day, you own your business.
Try it for one week. Five minutes. That's it. The ROI on your mental health is infinite.
